Meditation Ponderings from Paul
Hi Meditators,
Hope you are all having a wonderful Spring day.
First a note of business. The monthly Meditation Workshop I’ve been teaching has been moved to a weekly slot. Wednesdays, 5:15 – 5:45pm will be a free meditation time at the studio. I’m excited because this falls in one of my personal meditation times — just a nice break between work and the evening. Anyway, hope to see you there.
Secondly, I’ve been doing a lot of traveling recently which requires me breaking out my portable Jack Kerouac. (That previous sentence somehow completes a cliche — maybe it’s my life — but I’m leaving it in). Kerouac was a devout meditator and he even wrote a poem on it.
HOW TO MEDITATE
— lights out —
fall, hands a-clasped, into instantaneous
ecstasy like a shot of heroin or morphine,
the gland inside of my brain discharging
the good glad fluid (Holy Fluid) as
I hap-down and hold all my body parts
down to a deadstop trance — Healing
all my sicknesses — erasing all — not
even the shred of a “I-hope-you” or a
Loony Balloon left in it, but the mind
blank, serene, thoughtless. When a thought
comes a-springing from afar with its held-
forth figure of image, you spoof it out,
you spuff it out, you fake it, and
it fades, and thought never comes — and
with joy you realize for the first time
“Thinking’s just like not thinking —
So I don’t have to think
any
more”
*********************
Hope you and yours are well even when spuffing it out!
Paul
